Finished in elegant waxed medium walnut finish, this beautifully preserved pre-loved piano has been carefully prepared by Montague Pianos’ expert technicians. It delivers the clarity, warmth and responsiveness that discerning pianists expect from a C. Bechstein instrument.
At £7,995 including delivery, this piano represents outstanding value for an instrument of such pedigree and enduring quality — trusted by educational institutions, composers, and the Royal Ballet.
Cabinet:
The casework has been carefully burnished to remove all faded or oxidised surfaces, restoring uniform depth and colour across the cabinet. Five applications of finishing oil were used to rehydrate the walnut veneer and enhance its natural warmth, followed by some final polishing with dark oak liquid wax for a deep, rich satin lustre.
Technical Work:
This piano has undergone a complete concert preparation, including fine tuning, voicing, and full grand action regulation. Every stage of the mechanism has been precisely adjusted for accuracy, responsiveness, and tonal control.
Regulation procedures carried out include:
• Setting key height and dip for correct geometry and touch depth
• Adjusting hammer blow distance and hammer alignment
• Regulating let-off (escapement) and drop for precise hammer release
• Balancing and adjusting the repetition levers (double escapement system)
• Regulating jack position, lubricating roller (knuckle) contact, and backcheck distance
• Aligning and synchronising damper lift and spoon regulation
• Calibrating pedal system for smooth and responsive una corda, sostenuto and sustain operation
Final tuning and voicing were completed after regulation to ensure the classic Bechstein tonal clarity, warmth and evenness across the scale, with a refined touch and dynamic control.
